How fast can we get the Passport Renewal done in Bangalore?

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, issues passports in India. A passport is required for a variety of reasons when travelling abroad. A pilgrimage, education, travel, or business encounters are all possibilities. A passport also serves as proof of a person’s citizenship in a certain country.

 

In India, the passport is valid only for 10 years from its date of issue. Following that, you must apply for its renewal.

The passport renewal process can be categorised as:

 

Appointments in Passport Seva Kendras

  1. The first step for passport renewal is to register yourself on the Passport Seva portal.
  2. Now, login with your already registered id and select “Apply for Fresh Passport/ Re-issue of Passport”.
  3.  Complete the form by filling in the required details and submit the same.
  4. To schedule your appointment, click on the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link on the “view saved/ submitted applications” screen. You can transfer the payment through any of the following mediums:
  • credit/debit card
  • Internet banking

You can get your payment receipt by clicking on “Print Application Receipt”.

  1. It’s time to visit PSK where the appointment has been booked. 

 

Once you have visited the PSK, what next?

You have booked your appointment and are now at the PSK. This will be followed by the following steps:

  1. An Electronic Queue Management System (EQMS) operates at the PSKs to supervise the flow of applicants. Initially, you will have to perform certain formalities with the staff of the PSK. 
  2. Now, you can head to the Passport Office Staff for further verification of your documents, wherein all the issues in the documentation are discussed with the applicant. 
  3. They will provide you with an exit letter. All the further procedures will be done digitally, without any manual intervention. You can keep an eye on your application status through the portal or SMS.

Documents required for Passport Renewal

  1. Original old passport.
  2. Self-attested copies of the passport’s first two and last two pages.
  3. Self-attested copy of the ECR/non-ECR page.
  4. Self-attested copy of the page of observation made by the Passport Issuing Authority, if any.
  5. Self-attested copy of the validity extension page in terms of the Short Validity Passport (SVP).
  6. Proof of documents that eradicate the cause of issuance of Short Validity Passport (SVP).

Criteria to get the passport renewal done

To renew your passport, you need to have any of the following reasons:

  1. Alteration in any existing personal details.
  2. Expired validity within 3 years.
  3. Expired validity of more than 3 years.
  4. Damaged or lost passport. 

 

Is police verification required for passport renewal in India?

Yes, you do require police verification for passport renewal under the new policies, if you apply for passport renewal before the passport expires also though there are few exceptions where you may get your passport without police Verification also.Moreover, you should have no criminal cases against you and your previous police verification should be clear.
